Dave Mustaine was born on September 13, 1961 in La Mesa, California, United States. He is best known as the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the thrash metal band Megadeth.
Mustaine was originally a member of the band Metallica, but was ultimately asked to leave due to his substance abuse issues and conflicting personal dynamics within the band.
After being ousted from Metallica, Mustaine formed Megadeth in 1983. The band quickly rose to fame and became one of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.
In his youth, Mustaine struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, which affected his relationships and career. However, he eventually turned his life around and has been sober since the early 2000s.
Throughout his career, Mustaine has been known for his influential guitar playing, powerful vocal delivery, and politically charged lyrics. He has released over a dozen albums with Megadeth and continues to tour and record music.
